North Shields were on the wrong end of a 3-1 scoreline in Teeside.
Despite many shots on goal for the Robins, it was the hosts who went three goals ahead, before Reece Wanless scored a consolation in added time
Ogbewe almost set up Suddick for a goal within six-minutes as the full-back tested Lee Callum Roberts from the edge of the box. He would thwart Suddick again later in the half with a strong save at his near-post.
Ogbewe himself would narrowly miss the target with a header, as would Wilson after getting on the end of a Jake Lish cross. Lee Mason would later attempt an audacious volley, however it sailed over the bar..
Down the other end, new signing Callum Dobson was in action to prevent Steven Roberts from scoring from afar. Yarm captain Daniel Jones headed wide soon after.
With less than ten minutes to go before the end of the half, Steven Roberts opened the scoring with a looping header that dipped over the goalkeeper and into the bottom corner.
Half-Time: Yarm & Eaglescliffe 1-0 North Shields
Sampson would be the first to come close to a first Robins goal, blasting wide of the left post with a first time effort just inside the box. Yarm would quickly retalliate as goalscorer Roberts whipped a free kick into the box, only for the opportunity to go begging as the resulting volley ended in a goal kick for Shields.
Unfortunately, disaster struck at the back for North Shields in the 64th minute. Bexton attempted to thwart Tom Atkinson’s shot inside the box with multiple standing tackles, but the forward managed to toe-punt the ball past him and Dobson, Hall tried to clear the ball away on the line, but the ball instead ricocheted off the side of his boot and into the net for 2-0.
Atkinson would bag his brace and Yarm’s third six minutes later, but Suddick would come close again with a powerful strike destined for the top corner if not for a remarkable save once again by Roberts.
in the 70th minute The Y&E’s third goal finally came, as Atkinson took a touch in the box before letting fly with his right foot. Dobson looked to have got a hand to it, however the ball deflected through his gloves and in once again as things went from bad to worse for North Shields.
Shields would fire several efforts at goal before their consolation, but Adam Forster came the closest with a right-footed volley which skimmed the left-post by mere inches.
In added time Reece Wanless pulled one back with his right-foot to ensure the Robins went home with something, but it wasn’t enough to prevent a fourth consecutive loss in all competitions.
