North Shields succumbed to a third consecutive defeat on the road to Horden Community last night
Despite a strong start, The Robins seemed to lose their confidence in the second half, with the hosts growing ever stronger after each goal scored.
The Robins couldn’t have dreamed of a better start to the game, Jake Lish was fouled on the edge of the box and the resulting free kick lead to the opener after a whipped delivery was knocked down to the feet of Bexton, who rifled the ball home on the volley.
However the hosts responded promptly through their captain, who drove forward from an acute angle before curling one into the bottom left from the edge of the box.
A knife-edge remainder of the half ensued, with both sides looking equally dangerous, Ogbewe came the closest to putting either side in front, hammering the ball over the bar after some nice build up play.
HALF-TIME: Horden Community 1-1 North Shields
It took another 13 minutes in the second half for Horden to get their second as Pounder bagged his brace with an unmarked header at the far post.
Horden didn’t let up, and on the 72nd minute they had another, when Ben Henderson’s corner delivery met the head of Elliot Wilson and, rather impressively, swerved in.
A Joshua Daley delivery from a free kick caught the entire defence by survive and bounced all the way in for the fourth to round off a tough away day for the Robins. Although Elliott would make two strong saves before the end to keep the score at just four. Firstly keeping out Daley’s long-range strike before heroically keeping out a close range header at the far-post by Ewan Purdy.
